Electromagnetic Field Exposure:
  In Canada exposure limits to Radio Frequency (rf) Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs) are set by Health Canada guidelines in a document "Limits of Human Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Energy in the Frequency Range from 3 kHz to 300 GHz - Safety Code 6 (2009)" simply known as Safety Code 6.

  The Radiation Safety Institute of Canada has information on EMF Surveys for workplace environments, a service that EMF Mapping Canada is also proud to offer.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) of the World Health Organization (WHO):

  • Classified Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) magnetic fields in Group 2B in 2002.
  • Classified Radio Frequency (RF) electromagnetic fields in Group 2B in 2013.
  • Classified static magnetic fields in Group 3 in 1987.
  • Classified static and Extremely Low Frequency (ELF) electric fields in Group 3 in 2002.

    • IARC Group 4: 'probably not carcinogenic to humans'.
    • IARC Group 3: 'not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans'.
    • IARC Group 2B: 'possibly carcinogenic to humans'.
    • IARC Group 2A: 'probably carcinogenic to humans'.
    • IARC Group 1: 'carcinogenic to humans'.
